Production to Date: Double page spread story

This is the beginning of the story which I will put on my double page spread. It is not a typical interview with Questions & Answers, but it is more of a story with the interview fed into it..

Research and Planning: Photoshoot two - better quality shots

These are my better quality shots for my double page spread, they are in much sharper focus and the lighting is of a lot better quality.

Research and Planning: Photoshoot two

These photographs were taken in order to be used on my double page spread, however they are in poor focus and so I cannot use these exact photos. As you can see on some of the photographs, the focus is not right, and also the lighting does not compliment the model.

Research and Planning: Plan Of The Week

This is the plan of what I aim to achieve within the next week:
-Continue with the production my magazine
-Upload a Location Reccee
-Upload a Model Release Form
-Start writing the story for my double page spread
-Begin Editing my photographs for my magazine

Research and planning: Photoshoot one - better quality shots

These are the other photographs I took in my first photoshoot. Here you can see that these photographs are in a much better focus than the first, and these photos would also be suitable for my cover, as the model is following the conventions of my magazine by wearing similar coloured clothes to my colour scheme

Research and Planning: Photoshoot One - Poor focus shots

These are some of the photographs I took in my first photoshoot, I would like my model to be wearing this outfit on the cover as I feel this fits my colour scheme. As you can see some of these shots are not in as good of a focus as I would have liked, and so I have also taken some that have a better focus and sharpness.

Research and Planning: Make-up Testshots

Base Make-up:

Eye Make-up:

Lip Make-up:

these are my make-up test shots, showing the base make-up, shadowed eyes, and lips.
I don't really like the effect I have created on this models lips and so I  will rethink this look when it comes to taking my photographs.

Research and Planning: Model Hair Ideas.

As I am using a female model, the hair-style is a very important aspect to my magazine. I need the hairstyle to fit into my genre, but also to focus on the side of R&B that I plan to concentrate on. I would like my model to have long hair, as I feel this would add to the elegant side of R&B which I will be using as my main focus. I have researched current R&B artists, in order to get an idea of some of the looks which I could create.

I really like this hairstyle as her curls are loose and her hair is quite long. I feel this may be a look I could recreate when styling my model, I also like how the artist has dark hair, which I may use in my model. I think this look would fit in well with my genre, as it looks very R&B but also very glamourous, which is something that I would like to highlight in my magazine. My only worry would be the fact that this may begin to look more of the 'pop' genre, however I feel that the whole look will look more R&B than pop.

Research and Planning: Risk Assesment

Research and Planning: Location Details

For my magazine I would like to create a 'studio' effect. I would like a plain white background for my models to stand in front of in order to make them the centre of attention, but also to follow the types of shots I have researched. I feel the Mise-en-Scene for this will be quite minimalistic, but also will reflect the type of artist which my magazine targets. I think thiss look will be quite effective, and in order to create this, I will use White Lining Paper along both the wall and floor in order to make it look like an actual photography studio. I hope this look will work, as the major influences for my magazine, which are shots of well known artist.

This is an example of the type of background I am aiming for. I feel this makes the artist stand out alot and also highlights their individuality. In order to do this I will be taking my photographs indoors, which may slightly effect the lighting of my photographs as it would be artificial.

Research and Planning: Make-up Examples

As I am doing a RnB magazine, I will obviously be putting make-up on my models, in order to give them the RnB look. As I have decided to concentrate on the more glamorous side to RnB, such as the likes of Beyonce, I will be using a more subtle look on my models.

I would like my models to have a smokey-eye effect, which I feel is something that is quite on-trend, and so would fit in with my genre, but also I think this look is very glamorous and so would match the look which I would like my models to have. As this is an RnB magazine, the appearance of the models has to be almost perfect, and so I think make-up is a very important aspect to my magazine. This is the type of look I will try and create on my model, in order for her to fit in with the genre more, and to look like an RnB artist.

Another look I may decide to consider would be a very light pink lipstick, as this is something associated with the RnB artist Nikki Minaj. I am unsure whether to try this look, as I think it is something very associated with the one artist, and as I am using a new artist for my model, I feel that it would not be a look that is totally new and I would like something a bit more refreshing. However I do like the look and I may decide to use it when it comes to doing my models make-up. An alternative look I may decide to use would be red lipstick, I feel this would be very striking and would convey more of an attitude of the artist. It would also stand out and show more individuality, something which is highly explored in this genre of music.

Production to Date: Double page spread

This is the start of the production of my double page spread. As I do not have my photographs yet, I have started to create the background for the text of my Double Page Spread using In Design. I have again used the colour Gold as I want to keep a consistant house style running throughout the magazine. Although I have started my priduction, there will be some changes as I go along creating these pages, in terms of things such as layout and design.
